OASIS News
10 February 2006

Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments, and activities for the international standards consortium.

Peter Quinn to Keynote at Upcoming Symposium

The former CIO of the U.S. Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Peter Quinn, will provide the keynote address at the upcoming OASIS
Symposium, 9-12 May in San Francisco. Quinn's presentation, "On the Road to Open," will discuss how technology enterprises are often
constructed using proprietary solutions which result in un-navigable chasms of information and siloed operations. He will explain
how open standards can be used to insure access to all and a sustainable cost structure. The keynote will detail one example of the
journey to institutionalize open standards and the cultural, political, and commercial impediments encountered.
