OASIS News 5 June 2006 Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments, and activities for the international standards consortium. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Voting Begins for Board and TAB Balloting for the OASIS Board of Directors and Technical Advisory Board (TAB) is now underway and will close 26 June. All OASIS members should carefully review Board and TAB candidate profiles and ensure ballots are cast on behalf of their organizations before the deadline. Members are encouraged to share views on the candidates, issues, and the election process using the mail list, oasis-member-discuss@lists.oasis-open.org. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200606/msg00000.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Public Review Opens for SOA-RM v1.0 A public review of the Reference Model for Service Oriented Architecture (SOA-RM) v1.0 Committee Draft will be held from 5-20 June. SOA-RM provides a core reference model to guide and foster the creation of specific, service-oriented architectures. The specification completed a 60-day public review in February. The current, 15-day review is limited in scope to changes made as a result of feedback received. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200606/msg00001.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Italian Localization Subcommittee Forms for UBL The OASIS Universal Business Language (UBL) TC has organized an Italian Localization Subcommittee to produce content in the Italian language for UBL. Fabrizio Sciarra of BK s.r.l. and Roberto Cisternino chair the new group. All interested parties are encouraged to participate as active subcommittee members or as observers. http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/tc_home.php?wg_abbrev=ubl-itlsc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Gannon Represents Consortium at UN Meeting OASIS President & CEO, Patrick Gannon, has been invited to attend the United Nations Global Alliance for Information & Communications Technology (ICT) meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 19-20 June. This activity will provide an opportunity for OASIS to provide leadership in advancing the use of open standards by governments on a global basis. Patrick will be available for private briefings with delegates to discuss potential policies or recommendations on the use open standards. Contact ceo@oasis-open.org to schedule a meeting. http://www.un-gaid.org/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS ebXML Joint Committee Announces New Chair Kathryn Breininger of The Boeing Company will lead the OASIS ebXML Joint Committee (JC), which coordinates the work of the five OASIS ebXML TCs. The responsibility for chairing the JC rotates regularly amongst the chairs of the TCs. Breininger succeeds Monica Martin of Sun Microsystems, who led the JC for the past 18 months.
