Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements,
accomplishments, and activities for the international standards
consortium.

Balloting Opens for WSDM 1.1 as OASIS Standard

Consortium members are asked to vote on a set of Web Services
Distributed Management (WSDM) v1.1 specifications that have been put
forth for consideration as an OASIS Standard. WSDM enables management 
applications to be built using Web services, allowing resources to be 
controlled by many managers through a single interface. Balloting closes 
31 July.

OASIS CEO Appointed as High Level Advisor to United Nations Global Alliance

Patrick Gannon, president and CEO of OASIS, has been appointed to
the high level Advisory Board of the Global Alliance for ICT and
Development (GAID). GAID is a new initiative of United Nations
Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, to promote strategic, intensive,
widespread, and innovative use of Information Communications
Technologies (ICT) in governmental development policies and programmes.

Open for Public Review

OASIS strongly encourages feedback from potential users, developers and
others, whether OASIS members or not, for the sake of ensuring the
interoperability and quality of OASIS work. The following specifications

* Open Building Information Exchange (oBIX) v1.0 specification; ends 12
September.

Planning Begins for Document Standards InterOp

All members interested in participating in a Document Standards OASIS
InterOp demonstration are asked to join a discussion list to coordinate
planning.Several venues in Europe and North America are currently under
consideration. InterOp participants may be involved in the OASIS
DocBook, DITA, and/or OpenDocument TCs.

Call for Papers Is Issued for OASIS Open Standards 2006 in Sydney

All those interested in open standards development, convergence and
adoption are invited to participate in the OASIS Open Standards 2006
event taking place 25-27 October 25-27 in Sydney, Australia. OASIS Open
Standards 2006 is the fourth annual Asia Pacific event where both
management and technical professionals from the business and government
sector can gather to share expertise and promote open discussion on the
latest technologies, applications, and services supporting the global
e-Business community.

OASIS Seeks Presentations for Annual European Event

OASIS invites proposals for presentations, and panel sessions for the
third annual OASIS Adoption Forum, 28-29 November. Held in London, the
event seeks to educate and expose security leaders and professionals to
the tools, standards and implementations that are transforming security
interactions and relationships between citizens, businesses,
governmental institutions and agencies. Submission Deadline is 31
August.

OASIS ebXML Podcasts

Sacha Schlegel has conducted a series of audio interviews with peer
experts on ebXML (ISO 15000) in the spring of 2006. The podcasts offer
unique, accessible insight into the status and history of ebXML and
related technologies advanced by OASIS  and UN/CEFACT. The interviews
are available in MP3 and OGG formats.
