Members Establish DITA Machine Industry Subcommittee

The OASIS DITA TC has formed a Machine Industry Subcommittee to promote
best practices and develop a design for structured, intent-based
authoring of content for the machine industry. The subcommittee, chaired
by Christian Kravogel, will develop a top-level plan for topics and
domains, DITA DTDs and schemas. It will validate designs against sample
content and embed sample documents to the DITA-OT demo section for field
tests and feedbacks. All OASIS members are invited to participate.

Review WS-SecureConversation 1.3 and WS-Trust 1.3

The OASIS Web Services Secure Exchange (WS-SX) TC has approved the
WS-SecureConversation 1.3 and WS-Trust 1.3 specifications as Committee
Drafts and submitted the package for public review. The specifications
offer elements in making Web service transactions secure and trusted.
The public review ends 14 November 2006.

Review Material Markup Language

The OASIS Materials Markup Language TC has approved the Material Markup
Language specification as a Committee Draft and submitted the package
for public review. The TC standardizes the exchange of all types of
technical metrics and information for raw manufacturing materials. The
public review ends 14 November 2006.

Review UBL Naming and Design Rules 2.0

The OASIS Universal Business Language TC has recently approved the
Universal Business Language (UBL) Naming and Design Rules 2.0
specification as a Committee Draft and submitted the package for public
review. The UBL NDR sets out rules and guidelines for normative-form
schema design, instance design, and markup naming. The public review and
ends 12 November 2006.

Registration Opens for OASIS Adoption Forum

The OASIS Adoption Forum, which will be held in London on 28-29 Nov, is
now open for registration. The theme is "Enabling Efficiency between
Government, Business and the Citizen: Secure Interactions, Data
Management in Sector Applications." This is an exclusive opportunity to
take part in an event that will examine security from various business
perspectives. Details about registration are available on the event

Sponsor Workshop on ICT Standards for Public Warning

Sponsorship opportunities are available for the first international
workshop on standards for public warning, to be held in Geneva, 19-20
October 2006. Hosted by the ITU-T and OASIS, the event will attract
high-level, public sector officials from various nations, as well as
others from industry and academia. Attendees will come together to gain
and share knowledge of public warning systems, implementations and
experiences. Opportunities to establish co-operative relationships for
key players from both the public and private sectors will be provided.
