OASIS News 30 October 2006 Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments, and activities for the international standards consortium. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS Unstructured Information Management Architecture TC Forms Members of OASIS have organized a TC to produce a platform-independent specification in support of the interoperability, discovery, and composition of analytics across modalities, domain models, frameworks, and platforms. The work will generalize from the UIMA Java Framework implementation. The new OASIS UIMA TC will operate under the "RF on Limited Terms" mode of the OASIS Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Policy, and its first meeting will take place on 6 December by teleconference. The convener is David A. Ferrucci of IBM. In selecting this mode, obligated TC members agree to grant nonexclusive, worldwide, non-sublicensable, perpetual patent licenses without payment of royalties or fees. The workshop will explore the use of PKI in business applications around the world. The goal is to collectively assess how PKI is being used today--particularly as it is becoming embedded in business and government systems--and to understand its interaction with other security technologies, standards, and applications. The theme of the Symposium is "eBusiness and Open Standards: Understanding the Facts, Fiction, and Future". Submissions of proposals for presentations, panel discussions, and tutorials are welcomed.
