OASIS News 20 November 2006 Welcome to OASIS News, a weekly update of announcements, accomplishments, and activities for the international standards consortium. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Nominations Open for OASIS Special Board of Directors Election The OASIS Board of Directors has accepted the resignation of John Jackson of GM and authorized a Special Election to fill his seat, which expires with the 2007 annual election in July. Interested nominees should make special note of the deadlines and requirements of the nomination process. This schedule of elections closing 8 January has been created in order that the newly elected Director can be seated at the quarterly face-to-face Board meeting 24 January 2007 in Tampa FL, USA. http://www.oasis-open.org/who/election_process.php ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Review EKMI Proposal A draft TC charter has been submitted to establish the OASIS Enterprise Key Management Infrastructure (EKMI) TC convened by Arshad Noor of StrongAuth. The proposed Symmetric Key Services Markup Language (SKSML) describes how applications may request life-cycle services for symmetric keys from a server and how public-key cryptography may be used to provide such services. The draft charter has been circulated for member review and comments. The comment period is open until 22 November 2006. This specification provides the definition of the business activity coordination type that is to be used with the extensible coordination framework described in the WS-Coordination specification. A key speaker will be Peter Alterman, chairman of the US Federal PKI Authority. Please note that registration will close on Tuesday this week.
