Bob Sutor to Deliver Keynote at OASIS Symposium

Outspoken advocate for open standards and open source, Bob Sutor, Ph.D., will
provide the keynote address for the annual OASIS Symposium, "eBusiness and Open
Standards: Understanding the Facts, Fiction, and Future." Dr. Sutor, Vice
President of Standards and Open Source at IBM, previously served on the OASIS
Board of Directors and was recently named an "Open Source VIP" by Computer
Business Review. The OASIS Symposium will be held 15-18 April 2007 in San

Voting for WS-Trust and WS-SecureConversation Closes Soon

Members are encouraged to cast ballots on two candidate OASIS Standards,
WS-Trust 1.3 and WS-SecureConversation v1.3. Produced by the OASIS Web Service
Secure Exchange (WS-SX) TC, WS-Trust and WS-SecureConversation define
extensions that build on the WS-Security OASIS Standard to provide a framework
for requesting and issuing security tokens and to broker trust relationships.
Balloting on both specifications closes 28 Feb.

OASIS Entity Resolution TC Completes Work

A TC with connections reaching back to OASIS' early years as SGML Open has
completed its work and is now closed. The OASIS Entity Resolution TC created an
XML version of the Entity Management catalog specification (OASIS Technical
Resolution 9401:1997). The XML Catalog Specification 1.1 became an OASIS
Standard on 1 October 2005 and has since been implemented in various products
and platforms. OASIS thanks the TC participants for their contributions and
dedication to this effort. Their work and mail list archives will remain
publicly accessible.

OASIS members present two free webinars on the technology and business value
offered by WS-BPEL. "The Business Value of WS-BPEL for Business Analysts and
Managers" on 12 March and "WS-BPEL Technical Overview for Developers and
Architects" on 13 March will examine key features and benefits of WS-BPEL, how
it adds to existing processes, where it fits with other Web services standards,
and more. Registration is open.
