Voting begins on ebXML Messaging 3.0

The Consortium has issued a Call for Vote to determine if version 3.0 of the
ebXML Messaging Services specification (Part 1, Core Features) should be
approved as an OASIS Standard. ebXML Messaging defines the transport, routing
and packaging of e-business transactions. Members who wish to discuss the
ballot may do so through the member-discuss@lists.oasis-open.org mailing list.
The ballot will remain open until 30 Sept.

OASIS Emergency Interoperability Member Section launches

The OASIS Emergency Interoperability (EI) Member Section has been formed to
accelerate the development, adoption, application, and implementation of
emergency interoperability and communications standards. The new Member Section
will oversee the work of the OASIS Emergency Management Technical Committee,
which produces information exchange standards that advance incident
preparedness and response to emergency situations. The Member Section also
invites suggestions for forming new Committees to address other issues related
to emergency interoperability. Any OASIS member may participate in the EI
initiative, and new members are welcome.

Public review begins for CAP 1.1 Errata

The OASIS Emergency Management TC has approved the Common Alerting Protocol
(CAP) version 1.1 Errata as a Committee Draft and submitted it for public
review. CAP provides a simple, general-purpose format for exchanging all-hazard
emergency alerts and public warnings over any network. The review ends 28 Sept.

Australia adopts OASIS Standards to streamline financial reporting

The Australian Government has launched the Standard Business Reporting (SBR)
programme, a long-term initiative to save business time, money, and
frustration. SBR will explore the integration of the WS-BPEL, WS-Security, and
UDDI OASIS Standards, as well as other specifications for Web services and
financial reporting. SBR will allow companies to use a single, secure log-on to
submit financial reports to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Prudential
Regulation Authority, Securities and Investments Commission, Taxation Office,
and potentially, State Revenue Offices. Congratulations to the OASIS Tax XML
Committee for its role in encouraging this ground-breaking programme.
