CAP OASIS Standard becomes ITU-T Recommendation

The International Telecommunication Union's Standardization Sector (ITU-T) has
approved the Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) 1.1 OASIS Standard. Publication as
an ITU-T Recommendation (X.1303) helps ensure that CAP is deployed worldwide,
giving technical compatibility for users across all countries. Developed by the
OASIS Emergency Management TC, CAP is a simple, lightweight XML-based schema
that provides a general-purpose format for the exchange of emergency alerts for
safety, security, fire, health, earthquake and other events over any network.

DITA TC forms Enterprise Business Documents Subcommittee

The new group will develop and recommend an approach to harmonizing the
enterprise business document meta-model with the DITA OASIS Standard. Anyone
involved or interested in moving narrative business documents into XML is
welcome to participate. Ann Rockley of the Rockley Group and Michael Boses of
In.vision Research are serving as co-chairs of the new Subcommittee, which also
includes representatives of Justsystems and other members.

Security Services TC approves SAML 2.0 Errata

Participants in the OASIS Security Services TC have approved the Security
Assertion Markup Language (SAML) 2.0 Errata. SAML provides an XML-based
framework for creating and exchanging security information between online
partners.

Members solicit feedback on proposed TaMIE TC charter

Members are asked to review and comment on a draft charter to establish the
OASIS Testing and Monitoring Internet Exchanges (TaMIE) TC. The group plans to
define a test case scripting markup and execution model for Event-Driven
Architectures (EDA). Proposers include representatives of AIAG, Axway, Fujitsu,
NIST, and others. The comment period for the charter closes 30 Nov.

Public review begins for SPML 2.0 Errata

The OASIS Provisioning Services TC has approved Errata for the Service
Provisioning Markup Language (SPML) 2.0 as a Committee Draft and submitted it
for public review. SPML provides an XML framework for managing the provisioning
and allocation of identity information and system resources within and between
organizations. The review ends 1 Dec.

TC seeks feedback on Search Web Services discussion document

The OASIS Search Web Services TC is soliciting public feedback on the
functionality and approach of a strawman proposal document. The TC's work
builds on the Search Retrieve via URL (SRU) specification by articulating Web
services definitions for search and retrieval applications. The review ends 7
Dec.

Open CSA hosts four webinars on the role of SCA in SOA

Beginning 10 Dec, the OASIS Open CSA Member Section will present four webinars
on the Service Component Architecture (SCA) and its role in SOA. SCA
encompasses a family of royalty-free specifications based on the idea that
business function is provided as a series of services, which can be assembled
together to create solutions that serve a particular business need. SCA
provides a model both for the composition of services and for the creation of
service components, including the reuse of existing application function within
SCA compositions. The webinars are free, but registration is required.
