Patrick Gannon resigns as OASIS President and CEO

After leading the consortium for more than six years, Patrick Gannon announced
his resignation at the beginning of February. Prior to joining the OASIS staff
in 2001, Gannon served as chairman of the OASIS Board of Directors. His
contributions and commitment to the consortium are gratefully recognized by the
members, staff, and fellow Board directors. In accordance with the consortium's
bylaws, the current chairman of the OASIS Board, Eduardo Gutentag of Sun
Microsystems, will serve as interim president. A Board search committee has

Consortium solicits feedback on proposed ebXML Core TC charter

Members are asked to review and comment on a draft charter to establish the
OASIS ebXML Core (ebCore) TC. The group plans to serve as the maintenance body
for ebXML specifications completed or transitioned to the TC. The ebCore TC may
also produce new conformance profiles and adjunct documents complementing
existing specifications. It will explore synergies with UN/CEFACT, WS-*
specifications and SOA best practices. TC proposers include representatives of
OASIS Sponsor members, Axway Software, Boeing, and Fujitsu, and Contributor
members, British Telecommunications and Sonnenglanz Consulting. The comment
period for the charter closes 25 Feb 2008.

Consortium solicits feedback on proposed ORMS TC charter

Members are asked to review and comment on a draft charter to establish the
OASIS Open Reputation Management
Systems (ORMS) TC. The group plans to develop a system that provides the
ability to use common data formats for representing reputation data and
standard definitions of reputation scores. The TC's output will enable the
deployment of distributed reputation systems that can be either centralized or
decentralized with the ability for aggregators and intermediaries to be part of
the business model. TC proposers include representatives of OASIS Foundational
Sponsor, IBM, and Sponsor members, Booz Allen Hamilton, Cordance, Google, NRI,
VeriSign, and others. The comment period for the charter closes 22 Feb 2008.

BPEL XML.org launches

OASIS has introduced a new XML.org online community web site dedicated to

the world to share information and learn from one another. Sponsored by BEA
Systems and IBM, the site incorporates a wiki knowledgebase, news features,
event calendar, product directory, forums, and blogs. BPEL is the newest
addition to the XML.org family of OASIS web sites; others include DITA, ebXML,
IDtrust, OpenDocument, and UDDI.
