Candidates for the four open seats on the TAB include Abbie Barbir of Nortel, Toby Considine of the University of North Carolina, Jacques Durand of Fujitsu, and Andy Lee of Changfeng. Each Foundational, Sponsor, and Contributor member of OASIS is encouraged to vote before the deadline of 19 June. http://www.oasis-open.org/private/elections/2008board/ http://www.oasis-open.org/private/elections/2008tab/ ------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS Standard votes on XRI Syntax and XRI Resolution open Balloting for two specifications, the eXtensible Resource Identifier (XRI) Syntax version 2.0 and the XRI Resolution 2.0, is underway now and will remain open until 31 May. Building on the foundation of URIs (Uniform Resource Identifiers) and IRIs (Internationalized Resource Identifiers), XRIs provide a standard means of abstractly identifying a resource independent of any concrete representation. The theme will focus on "Security Challenges for the Information Society." OASIS invites proposals for presentations, panel sessions, and interoperability demonstrations related to this theme. Funding for the Forum is provided by OASIS Foundational Sponsor members, BEA, IBM, Primeton, and Sun Microsystems, and by IDtrust. Version 5.0 is a complete rewrite of DocBook in RELAX NG. Conducted by the UOML Extended (UOML-X) TC, this public review ends 15 July. (A previous public review on this identical specification was conducted by the UOML TC, which operates under RAND IPR Terms; that TC is being closed and the specification has been contributed to the UOML-X TC, which operates under RF on RAND IPR Terms.) http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/200805/msg00010.html ------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS solicits feedback on proposed charters for OAXAL and SET TCs All interested parties are asked to review and comment on a draft charter to establish the OASIS Open Architecture for XML Authoring and Localization (OAXAL) TC. OAXAL represents a method to exploit technical documentation assets by extending the usefulness of core XML-related standards in a comprehensive, open standards-based architecture. Proposers include a representative of Sponsor member, Comtech Services, and others. Members are also asked to review and comment on a draft charter to establish the OASIS Semantic Support for Electronic Business Document Interoperability (SET) TC. The group intends to specify semantic mechanisms to achieve interoperability among document standards based on UN/CEFACT CCTS by continuing work initiated in the iSURF Project. The comment period for both charters closes 26 May. Use cases, requirements for new elements, enhancement to existing elements, and other suggestions are welcome.
