OASIS creates discussion list on Adopting SOA for Telecom

A new mailing list for members and non-members explores a proposal to form a TC on Adopting SOA for Telecom. The new TC would identify current limitations of SOA technology in support of Telecom requirements. Issues such as testability, scalability, Service Level Agreements (SLA), reliability, support for session interactions, event based interactions, service ontologies, service failure modes and the marrying of IMS and SOA technologies will be addressed. Proposers include representatives from Foundational Sponsors, IBM and Oracle, as well as Nortel; Abbie Barbir of Nortel is designated as the discussion leader.

WS-Federation 1.2 public review begins

Developed by the OASIS Web Services Federation (WSFED) TC, WS-Federation defines mechanisms to allow different security realms to federate, so that authorized access to resources managed in one realm can be provided to security principals whose identities and attributes are managed in other realms. This public review ends 14 Sept.

OASIS updates TC Process

Necessitated by recent revisions to the OASIS IPR Policy, two defined terms have been added to the TC Process.
"OASIS Draft Deliverable" applies to Working Drafts, Committee Drafts, and Public Review Drafts. "OASIS Final Deliverable" encompasses Committee Specifications, OASIS Standards, and Approved Errata.
