Welcome to OASIS News, a bi-weekly update of announcements, accomplishments, and activities for the international open standards consortium.

Energy Market Information Exchange (eMIX) TC forms

All interested parties are invited to participate in the new OASIS eMIX Technical Committee. This group will work to define standards for exchanging energy characteristics, availability, and schedules to support the free and effective exchange of information. The eMIX TC will operate under the Royalty Free on Limited Terms mode of the OASIS IPR Policy. The 40+ TC proposers include representatives of OASIS Foundational Sponsors--IBM, Primeton, and Sun Microsystems--as well as Sponsors--EnerNOC, EPRI, TIBCO, U.S. NIST--and others. Edward Cazalet is the convener; a TC chair or two co-chairs will be elected at the first meeting, which will be held by teleconference on 15 Oct. Symptoms Autonomic Framework (SAF) TC forms

All interested parties are invited to participate in the new OASIS SAF Technical Committee. This group will work to holistically integrate information and processes by defining a standard XML-based framework that will enable the collection, detection, isolation, remediation, and optimization of the operational or business characteristics of complex systems. The work will apply to both IT and non-IT domains including service management, governance, and security. The SAF TC will operate under the Royalty Free on Limited Terms mode of the OASIS IPR Policy. The TC proposers represent IBM, CA, and Fujitsu. Jeffrey Vaught of CA serves as convener; a TC chair or two co-chairs will be elected at the first meeting, which will be held by teleconference on 22 Oct. DITA Technical Communications Subcommittee forms

The new subcommittee will work to advance DITA specializations for technical communication. JoAnn Hackos of Comtech and Gershon Joseph of Cisco serve as co-chairs. Organizations represented in the SC include IBM, EMC, Intel, PTC, and others. All interested parties are invited to join (membership in the parent DITA TC is required).

Registration closes 23 Sept for Identity Management 2009

Federated key management, secure cloud computing, social networking, authentication standards, and privacy management will be discussed at this OASIS IDtrust event under the theme of "Transparent Government". Sponsored by Microsoft, Identity Management 2009 will be held at the NIST facilities in Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA, 29-30 Sept. There will be no on-site registration for this event.

Emergency Interoperability Member Section prepares to host Summit 

The public and private sectors will join to demonstrate the benefits of open standards for facilitating emergency response at the OASIS Emergency Interoperability (EI) Summit, 30 Sept - 1 Oct. Held as part of the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) Training Event in Baltimore, Maryland, the OASIS EI Summit aims to bring closer coordination among first responders, policy makers, legislators, government agencies, and vendors.
