OASIS announces 2010 Board election results 

Tony Giroti of Bridge Energy and Charles Schulz of Ars Aperta were elected
and Bob Freund of Hitachi, Frederick Hirsch of Nokia, Jim Hughes of
Microsoft, and Jeff Mischkinsky of Oracle were reelected to two-year terms
on the OASIS Board of Directors. The consortium expresses deep appreciation
to outgoing Board members, Bob Glushko of the University of California
Berkeley and Paul Knight.

CAP 1.2 becomes OASIS Standard

Members have approved the Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) 1.2 as an OASIS
Standard. CAP is a widely adopted format for exchanging all-hazard emergency
alerts and public warnings over all kinds of networks. Congratulations to
the Emergency Management TC chair, Elysa Jones of Warning Systems, Inc.
(WSI), and to all TC participants including representatives of AtHoc,
Desktop Alert, Environment Canada, Sandia National Laboratories, US
Department of Defense, WSI, and others.

Members propose Privacy Management TC 

A draft charter to establish the OASIS Privacy Management Reference Model
(PMRM) Technical Committee proposes a work agenda to create a set of
operationally focused privacy requirements for designing and implementing
operational privacy controls. PMRM TC proposers include representatives of
CA Technologies, US NIST, and others. Michael Willett of ISTPA serves as
convener.

OpenDocument (ODF) 1.2 public review begins

ODF specifies an XML-based, application-independent and
platform-independent, digital document file format, as well as the
characteristics of software applications which read, write and process such
documents. ODF 1.2 is applicable for text, spreadsheets, presentation
graphics, drawings, charts, and other documents. This public review ends 6
Sept.

DocBook Publishers Schema 1.0 public review begins

The Publishers Schema provides DocBook customizations for periodicals,
technical notes, journals, business, legal, medical, and other non-technical
books, educational textbooks and other document types. The public review
ends 23 Jul.

TestCases for SCA Policy Framework 1.1 public review begins

This document describes a series of tests that a Service Component
Architecture (SCA) runtime must pass in order to claim conformance with the
SCA Policy. The public review ends 6 Sept.

DITA 1.2 public review begins

Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) 1.2 defines a set of document
types for authoring and organizing topic-oriented information as well as
mechanisms for combining, extending, and constraining document types. The
public review ends 5 Sept.

Emergency Committee hosts EDXL webinar

"Emergency Data Exchange Language (EDXL) 101" will be the focus of a webinar
that will explore how implementing EDXL standards can enhance information
sharing in the emergency management and response domains. This webinar will
also provide an overview of the NIMS Supporting Technology Evaluation
Program, which evaluates EDXL products and publishes reports on the
Responder Knowledge Base website. All are invited to attend, but
pre-registration is required. The webinar will be held 15 Jul at 15:00 UTC
(8:00 San Francisco, 11:00 Boston, 4:00 London, 5:00 Berlin).

OASIS eGov StC approves IP guidance document 

The Steering Committee of the eGov Member Section has approved "The
Transition from IPv4 to IPv6: Removing Barriers". This guidance document
draws on experiences of early government implementers who made the
transition from version 4 to 6 of the Internet Protocol addressing scheme.
