Suitable for text, spreadsheets, charts, graphs, presentations, and databases, the ODF frees documents from their applications-of-origin, enabling them to be exchanged, retrieved, and edited with any ODF-compliant software or tool. DITA defines both a set of document types for authoring and organizing topic-oriented information and a set of mechanisms for combining, extending, and constraining document types. The specification was developed by representatives of: OASIS Foundational Sponsor, IBM; Sponsors, Cisco, JustSystems, PTC, Really Strategies, SDL; and others.
