OASIS elects new Board of Directors and TAB

Gershon Janssen (Individual member), Dawn Jutla of St. Mary’s University, Paul Lipton of CA Technologies, and Zhexuan Song of Huawei were elected and Frederick Hirsch of Nokia and Jim Hughes of Microsoft were re-elected to the Board of Directors. Jacques Durand of Fujitsu was re-elected to the Technical Advisory Board. All will serve two-year terms, beginning 26 July.

Plan to attend Annual Member Meeting and Mixer in July

Members are invited to attend the OASIS Annual General Meeting at the consortium offices in Burlington, MA, USA on 25 July. The agenda includes a review of the Annual Report, announcement of the Distinguished Contributor Awards, introduction of new Board members, acknowledgments of departing Board members, and open discussion. OData TC forms

The Open Data Protocol (OData) simplifies the querying and sharing of data across disparate applications and multiple stakeholders for re-use in the enterprise, Cloud, and mobile devices. A REST-based protocol, OData builds on HTTP, AtomPub, and JSON using URIs to address and access data feed resources. It enables information to be accessed from a variety of sources including (but not limited to) relational databases, file systems, content management systems, and traditional Web sites. TC supporters include representatives of OASIS Foundational Sponsors, IBM and Microsoft, as well as Sponsors, CA, Citrix, Progress Software, Red Hat, SAP, WSO2, and others. Barbara Hartel from SAP is the convener; a TC chair or two co-chairs will be elected at the first meeting, which will be held on 26-27 Jul at Microsoft's offices in Redmond, WA, USA. Members propose WS-BRSP TC

 All interested parties are asked to review and comment on a draft charter to establish the OASIS Web Services Basic Reliable and Secure Profiles (WS-BRSP) Technical Committee. WS-BRSP will work to maintain WS-I Basic Profiles (1.2 and 2.0), Basic Security Profile (1.0), Reliable Secure Profile (1.0), and ISO/IEC JTC 1 Profile Specifications. WS-BRSP TC proposers include representatives of OASIS Foundational Sponsor, Microsoft, as well as Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard, Software AG, and others. Michael DeNicola of Fujitsu serves as convener. The member comment period for this draft charter closes 2 Jul.

Survey of Methods of Trust Elevation 1.0 public review begins

The document highlights the types of transactional trust mechanisms used or sold by members. As the TC's first deliverable, this survey is intended to be used as input to further analysis. The public review ends 16 Jul.

SAF Cloud Profile 1.0 public review begins

The Symptoms Automation Framework (SAF) Primer contains non-normative examples of SAF symptoms, syndromes, protocols, and prescriptions, the latter two referencing DMTF Cloud Infrastructure Management Interface (CIMI). This public review ends 14 Jul.

Energy Transport Protocol Bindings 1.0 public review begins

This specification specifies standardized exchange of Energy Interoperation messages using the AS4 profile of the OASIS ebMS 3.0 OASIS Standard. The public review ends 14 Jul.

Test Assertions Model Version 1.0 public review begins

This Model specifies the structure and semantics of a test assertion, which can be used to evaluate the adherence of an implementation to normative statements in a specification. The public review ends 13 Aug.

ISO TC 154 and UN/CEFACT announce Open Data Interchange Framework 

The work (ISO/TC 154 N 0659) will focus on standardization efforts that build on implementations of ebXML Core Components (ISO/TS 15000-5). The project will evaluate existing uses and develop a technical framework for harmonization across implementations and vocabularies. Participation is open to all members of ISO liaison organizations (e.g., OASIS) through TC 154.

LegalXML sponsors RuleML-2012@ECAI

This research-based, industry-focused symposium will build a bridge between academia and industry for rules and semantic technology. The event will bring together rule system providers, participants in rule standardization, open source communities, practitioners, and researchers. Held in Montpellier, France, 27-29 Aug, RuleML2012 will include a special track on the OASIS LegalRuleML work and F2F TC meeting.
