Big Data and Standards Forum launches on LinkedIn

The Forum advances an online, public dialogue to explore role of standards in big data. The goal is to identify possibilities, provoke new thinking, probe differences of opinion, cut through the hype, and inspire informed actions. All perspectives are welcome and needed in this conversation--government, industrial research, vendors, academia, corporate customers, and consumers. The Forum is open and free for everyone.

Ensign to brief members on TC Process changes

An informal online briefing with Chet Ensign will be held in on 22/23 August to discuss new changes to the TC Process. Two sessions are scheduled to accommodate most time zones. Changes include eliminating public reviews for non-material content changes, allowing Statements of Use from non-OASIS members, and streamlining the process of TC rechartering. To RSVP for the briefing, contact dee.schur@oasis-open.org.

Int'l Cloud Symposium announces featured speakers

Anne Calalas, ANSI Senior Director; Deb Gallaher, GSA Roadmapping Development Team Chair; Dawn Leaf, US Dept of Commerce Senior Executive for Cloud Computing; and Ronald Richey, Bank of America Chief Scientist of Information Security will be featured on the program. Held 10-12 Oct at the Microsoft offices in the Washington, DC area, the event will focus on security, privacy, and trust issues involved in cloud for the public sector. A limited number of complimentary passes for government representatives are still available--but they are going fast. IBM and CA Technologies are sponsoring the Symposium; other sponsorship opportunities are available (contact events@oasis-open.org).

Special Election will fill open seat on Technical Advisory Board (TAB)

Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) 1.0 public review begins

AMQP is an efficient, reliable, wire level messaging protocol supporting common middleware messaging interaction patterns: messaging, request/response, publish/subscribe, transactions, and store and forward. It allows middleware applications to communicate with each other without having to have the same infrastructure on both ends (i.e. it provides vendor-neutral communications). The public review ends 13 Oct.
