EU and US agree on “Privacy Shield”

Carol Cosgrove-Sacks, OASIS Senior Advisor on International Standards Policy, reports that the new agreement aims to restore trust in transatlantic data flows and sets up a sound framework for commercial data exchange. The goal is to ensure that personal data is fully protected whilst enabling companies to take advantage of digital opportunities. Both US and EU authorities provided strong commitments that the Privacy Shield will be strictly enforced with no indiscriminate or mass surveillance by national security authorities.

OASIS open standards regarding Trust, Privacy and Cyber Security contribute to reinforcing data privacy protection.
