Subject: Re: [board-agenda] Fwd: Possible agenda item regarding current JTC1 & ITU submission plans
Thanks, Eduardo. The appeal period for members is specified, and is even longer -- 30 days (see Section 6 of http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/liaison_policy.php#submitwork). Still, I take your comment as: "members should always have at least two weeks to throw up a red flag, after the final plan is posted, before the thing actually goes out." When we were writing that policy (the special Board committee chaired by Claus last year), we were trying to balance between lots of oversight & appeals, on the one hand, and reasonable speed on the other. One thing that we've learned from other submissions: we need the rules not to make us so pokey that we're incapable of responding effectively to feedback from orgs receiving a submission. As I said, in this case, maybe it's moot anyway. This specific acceleration suggestion only would be worth considering if we needed faster action in order to correctly present material to SC38, at their meeting the 2nd week of May. That might not be the case. . Cordially Jamie. ~ James Bryce Clark ~ General Counsel, OASIS ~ http://www.oasis-open.org/who/staff.php#clark @JamieXML
