Subject: Notes on the ARIP convener call

The convener call for the proposed OASIS Augmented Reality in Information Products (ARIP) TC was held on 07 April 2015 at 11:30 AM EDT.

Attending: Rhonda Truitt, Farhad Patel, Charles Cooper, Ray Gallon, Sally Martir, Scott Simmons, Carol Geyer, Chet Ensign

We reviewed the 2 comments received from Makiko Shimamura (https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/oasis-charter-discuss/201504/msg00001.html) and Scott Simmons (https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/oasis-charter-discuss/201504/msg00002.html)
Chet went over the next steps to follow up on comments and time frames.
Discussion of the meaning of ‘reference implementation.’ There was agreement not to use that term since, to some people, it suggests that it will be the definitive implementation of the spec. Alternative phrases considered.
Next steps: Rhonda will follow up with Mr. Shimamura to clarify what he means by ‘reference implementation.’ Proposers will consider other language changes to address his suggestions and will consider incorporating the suggestion for including ‘use cases.’ Proposers agreed to add OGC Standard “ARML 2.0” (http://www.opengeospatial.org/standards/arml) to (2)(a) Similar Work in the charter. Chet will send a template that can be used to prepare the comment resolution log (template attached in Open Office and MS Office formats).

Chet reviewed the next steps in the process for starting the TC. He noted that the proposers need to submit the comment resolution log and the final charter by 20 April. Chet noted that the Call for Participation must go out by 23rd April to stay within the time frame for the first meeting but can go out earlier.

Chet reviewed the facilities that will be available when the C4P goes out: TC internal collaboration web site with calendar, roster, document repository, TC main email address, public-facing TC website. Chet noted that the TC can request a wiki, JIRA project, SVN (Possibly git) after it starts.

Carol covered steps to promote the TC and recruit more participants including the opportunity to hold a pre-1st meeting webinar through OASIS to educate interested people to the TC.
Carol encouraged everyone on the call to suggest candidates to approach if they know of any
Ray suggested we consider setting up an event in cooperation with the STC (Society of Technical Communicators) in a year to promote what the TC is doing. Also mentioned the interest in the automotive companies of use of AR. Carol pointed out that Dassualt is an OASIS member, Ford is joining for another TC so can join this TC if they have someone interested.
