Subject: BISACS binding for oBIX?

The Building and Fire Research lab at NIST is developing BISACS, the Building Information Services and Control System. I think we should be considering very carefully how oBIX interacts with BISACS. Is it a standard contract? Are there competing proprietary apps that work between oBIX below and BISACS going up? Are these instead competing implementations of oBIX?

BISACS is considering how it interacts with CAP (good!). AFAIK (which is not enough!) it hasn’t yet considered how it might serve things up in ways that  fit neatly into OGC standards. It would be a mistake to presume that the OGC standards are exotic, or not there yet. Older Open Web standards are already supported by many products in the marketplace (and open source try World Wind)

•             Web Mapping Services (WMS) – now supported by Google Earth

•             Web Feature Service

•             Web Coverage Service

Standards from the more recent OGC 3 interoperability scenario http://www.opengeospatial.org/pub/www/ows3/index.html

•             OGC Location Services (OpenLS)

•             Sensor Web Enablement (SWE)

•             Geo-Decision Support Services (GeoDSS)

•             Transducer Markup Language (TML)

Seem like a good fit for oBIX – and a good intersection with BISACS.

Watch the video. Note the model of 3rd party shape servers etc.

Scenario 4 Test Bed was a dirty bomb scenario – not available in full write up, AFAIK. Scenario 5 is just firing up.

Please note that the attachment is an early draft – not a standard. Note the use of Alerts rather than Alarms. I think, once again, that re-christening Alarms to Alerts should be nearly automatic. is While BISACS would welcome comments from oBIX, they shared it with me to pass on to the Emergency Management TC.
