We're in a similar situation - our Tracer Evo installations are usually rather homogenous and our oBIX implementation is therefore proven to talk to itself but nothing beyond that. I really like the idea of a plugfest - I've been to a few BACnet plugfests as well and those have been very useful for all the reasons you mention (and are fun besides!); I think an oBIX plugfest would have similar benefits.

I'll start a conformance page with just the byte ordering issue listed; we can certainly add to it as we think of additional things that need to go there.

Toby: Is there a template you might suggest I look at to follow for the conformance statement or is pulling the generics from an existing doc a good enough starting point?

Thanks!
-Brad

I don't have a specific list of things - I think it was more of a desire to have a list. Many of our installations are Niagara-on-Niagara (usually R2 vs. AX), so the same people are developing both sides of the communication. As we encounter any of these issues, I will try to post them to the group though.

In the spirit of trying to foster interoperability, as well as promoting the standard, what about having some sort of "plugfest", like the BACnet folks? I've been to most of the BACnet plugfests, and they have proven extremely valuable in many ways:
* sorting out bugs in our implementation
* identifying ambiguous areas of the specification
* developing connections & relationships with developers from other companies
* seeing which vendors our product works best with and which ones we have troubles with

Thank you Brad.

There is no conformance yet, and conformance is one of the most important tasks of this version.

Craig:

At one time someone (Scott Muench?) mentioned a growing list of things to avoid that make oBIX incompatible being developed, perhaps in the context of 3rd party NIAGARA support. That list would, of course, be handy...

We still need to do something about the conformance statements section - there's the issue of network byte order that needs to be placed here as was discussed earlier, and I would assume that there are other items to go here as well. Is there a list (perhaps floating in the archives that I missed) or something to that effect? If the task isn't already spoken for, I'll volunteer to draft the section but would need some pointers from the group for the content.

Thanks,
Brad

I have corrected the formatting problems introduced in WD05 but have not changed the text submitted by Ben. Editable updated version is in same document repository as Ben's work, as well as this, a line-numbered PDF for comments and review.
