Subject: RE: [obix] Completing current work for oBIX

As to Item (1), I think we need a way to create a standard name / hook for any contract. That contract may be the shared watch. It may be the enterprise contract scheduled by the corporate calendar (Integrator creates contract, it is invoked by name now...and then)

Item 2 - Sounds more like watch aggregation, where the unit of 1 watch is the exception...Correct?

Not sure about 3 - not sure what it is. Is it something like XRDS profile for oBIX? If not, what is it? Is it instead a WS-DP compliant profile (which would define a forwarding mechanism) for oBIX devices?

JSON would be nice. And SOAP.

I realize that this is a bit out of left field, but I'd like to see:

1. Shared watches. A watch that can be created in the standard way, but polled by multiple clients.

2. Pushed watches. A watch that can be created in the standard way, but also registered with a uri for the server to push to.

3. A standard query service for oBIX that, if implemented, would allow objects to be found within a server without crawling.

4. A JSON encoding for oBIX.

I've let myself get out of the loop, so I'm not sure if any of these could still be 1.1 additions or if they would need to wait for 1.2. I'm having trouble finding info on the state of the ATOM binding and WS-Calendar. Where can I get current docs on those?

Sorry to jump in like this, but I definitely don't want to go with option d.

So what's next for oBIX.

a) Shall we bundle up the work already done as errata, send a note a out as below, and then push to be an OASIS Standard?
b) shall we add the ATOM binding work already done and make a 1.1?
c) shall we add the ATOM and the WS-Calendar references and make a 1.1?
d) shall we close the committee, as no one responds to re-schedule requests?
e) some other path?

Subject: [members] Public Review of UOML Part 1 v1.0 Errata - 15 day review

To OASIS members, Public Announce Lists:

The OASIS Unstructured Operation Markup Language Extended (UOML-X) TC has recently approved the following errata as a Committee Draft and approved the package for public review:

UOML (Unstructured Operation Markup Language) Part 1 Version 1.0 Draft Errata

The UOML Part 1 v1.0 OASIS Standard was submitted to ISO/IEC JTC1 for approval. The original ballot failed to receive sufficient yes votes to pass and, as a result, a Ballot Resolution Meeting was scheduled to deal with the comments that were submitted by the National Bodies. That meeting was held in Tokyo, Japan, on 10-11 September 2010. The agreed-upon resolution of those comments require many changes to the original specification; in order to ensure that there is no deviation between what may become an ISO Standard and the OASIS Standard, an errata incorporating each of those changes must be prepared, submitted for review, and further approved by the UOML-X Technical Committee.

Below you will find links to the original OASIS Standard, the Committee Draft Errata, and the Disposition of Comments document. Each item in the Errata document is commented, noting the associated National Body (abbreviated NB) comment found in the Disposition of Comments.

The public review starts today, 24 September 2010, and ends 9 October 2010. This is an open invitation to comment. We strongly encourage feedback from potential users, developers and others, whether OASIS members or not, for the sake of improving the interoperability and quality of OASIS work.

More non-normative information about the specification and the technical committee may be found at the public home page of the TC at http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/tc_home.php?wg_abbrev=uoml-x. Comments may be submitted to the TC by any person through the use of the OASIS TC Comment Facility which can be located via the button marked "Send A Comment" at the top of that page, or directly at http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/comments/index.php?wg_abbrev=uoml-x.

Submitted comments (for this work as well as other works of that TC) are publicly archived and can be viewed at http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/uoml-x-comment/. All comments submitted to OASIS are subject to the OASIS Feedback License, which ensures that the feedback you provide carries the same obligations at least as the obligations of the TC members.
