Subject: FW: Standardized Data Schema Report Published
This document should be part of the thinking about next steps in oBIX as well. "A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away." -Antoine de Saint-Exupery
From: Stein, Justin [mailto:Justin.Stein@nrel.gov] I wanted to inform you that the report for the REA-WBS Standardized Data Schema project has been published and is available at the link below. Review of Current Data Exchange Practices: Providing Descriptive Data to Assist with Building Operations Decisions http://www.nrel.gov/docs/fy11osti/50073.pdf (PDF 804 KB) Authors: William Livingood and Justin Stein (NREL); Toby Considine (TC9, Inc.); Chuck Sloup (Sensus Machine Intelligence) Retailers who participate in the U.S. Department of Energy Commercial Building Energy Alliances (CBEA) identified the need to enhance communication standards. The means are available to collect massive numbers of buildings operational data, but CBEA members have difficulty transforming the data into usable information and energy-saving actions. Implementing algorithms for automated fault detection and diagnostics and linking building operational data to computerized maintenance management systems are important steps in the right direction, but have limited scalability for large building portfolios because the algorithms must be configured for each building.
