Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OBIX-24) Section 4, Figure 1, Line 269 - What does "range: anyURI" mean for obix::bool?
[ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OBIX-24?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=35339#action_35339 ] Craig Gemmill commented on OBIX-24: ------------------------------------ In section 4.1.9, it is explicitly stated that range is used only for bool and enum types. So that much should be covered. I agree that it might be helpful to provide an example of range used in a bool context in section 4.2.1.1. I think another useful addition might be some language describing that an obix:Range does NOT imply a numerical value. There may be a tendency to assume that the items in the range equate to the numerical values 0, 1, 2, ..., but this is not guaranteed and should not be assumed. I find myself sometimes assuming this or wishing it were true, but it is not as it currently sits. In Figure 4-1, I think the inclusion of 'val' for obix::bool is incorrect, unless it is also included for other types. However, I think that the obix::val type should be presented as a superclass of the various val types, and represented as "abstract" as well - you cannot create a 'val' object. > Section 4, Figure 1, Line 269 - What does "range: anyURI" mean for obix::bool? > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > Key: OBIX-24 > URL: http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OBIX-24 > Project: OASIS Open Building Information Exchange (oBIX) TC > Issue Type: Bug > Components: OBIX 1.1 Specification > Affects Versions: oBIX 1.1 PR01 > Environment: Ludo Bertsch, Horizon Technologies Inc.
