Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (ODATA-159) Handling inline attachments in requests/responses

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/ODATA-159?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=31598#action_31598 ]

Ralf Handl commented on ODATA-159:
----------------------------------

2. in the proposal already hints at the solution: OData supports multipart messages in batch requests. So use a batch request to retrieve the entity and the content of each named stream property.

One catch for media entities: we "retired" the canonical constuctable URL ~/EntitySet(Key)/$value (see ODATA-131), so we cannot request it without having retrieved the media entity first to get at the media-link. Maybe we should reconsider that decision and add the /$value convention for addressing media resources.

> The only way of dealing with attachments (streams) as per the current OData spec seems to be using Media Entities or Named Stream Properties, where a media link is provided to download the attachment. Is there a way to get properties and attachments in one call?
