Although clients need be prepared to handle scenarios where the navigationpropertybinding is not present, in many common models (in fact, all of the models expressed in OData today V1-V3) the target of the binding is known. Where it is known, it is useful information, and required if an implementation wants to go back and forth between old style and new style.
