Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (ODATA-10) operator that returns the content of a Stream as either a String or Binary value
[ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/ODATA-10?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=32653#action_32653 ] Ralf Handl commented on ODATA-10: --------------------------------- Actually the current ABNF of V4 as well as the WCF DS implementation of V3 don't allow appending /$value to a stream property. We should make that explicit in section 4.7 of the URL Conventions, see ODATA-285. We could allow the cast function http://odata.netflix.com/v2/Catalog/Titles?$select=Name,cast(icon,Edm.String) or extend $expand: http://odata.netflix.com/v2/Catalog/Titles?$select=Name,icon&$expand=icon($cast=Edm.String) > operator that returns the content of a Stream as either a String or Binary value > -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Key: ODATA-10 > URL: http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/ODATA-10 > Project: OASIS Open Data Protocol (OData) TC > Issue Type: Improvement > Components: OData Protocol , OData URL Conventions > Reporter: Andrew Eisenberg > Assignee: Michael Pizzo > > OData could be extended with an operator that returns the content of a Stream as either a String or Binary value. > This could be expressed as: > http://odata.netflix.com/v2/Catalog/Titles?$select=Name,streamAsBinary(icon) > or > http://odata.netflix.com/v2/Catalog/Titles?$select=Name&$extendedSelect=streamAsBinary(icon) as Icon -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA. - If you think it was sent incorrectly contact one of the administrators: http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/secure/Administrators.jspa - For more information on JIRA, see: http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira
