Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (ODATA-579) Should we support dynamic functions/actions?

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/ODATA-579?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=36258#action_36258 ]

Ralf Handl commented on ODATA-579:
----------------------------------

What would be the use case?

The service has to know the action/function in order to execute it, so why can't it advertise it in $metadata?

> Currently we don't say whether or not we support dynamic actions/functions.
> Currently, clients rely on metadata to describe parameters that can be passed to a function/action, so we would either have to augment the function/action element to describe parameters (and return type?) or restrict dynamic actions/functions to parameterless versions.
