Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (ODATA-690) Alert clients to new symbolic scale value "float"

    [ https://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/ODATA-690?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=37641#comment-37641 ]

Evan Ireland commented on ODATA-690:
------------------------------------

Although we may appreciate the special significance of "16" and "34" has to do with decimal64 and decimal128 types, it is not clear why we would propose that "float" scale be limited to two specific precisions.

How about allowing Allow "float" scale for other precisions as well.

> ODATA-557 proposes adding a new symbolic value "float" to the scale attribute for decimals with precision 16 or 34 to specify that values will be returned in exponential notation.
> In OData V4 we should add text to make clients aware of this expected change;
> "The Scale attribute value of "float" is reserved for future use for decimal types with precision of 16 or 34 to specify that values will be returned using exponential notation."
