Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (ODATA-917) 5.1.1.2.1 Addition and 5.1.1.2.2 Subtraction: Date add/sub Duration is DateTimeOffset - but in which time zone?

    [ https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/ODATA-917?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=61953#comment-61953 ]

Michael Pizzo commented on ODATA-917:
-------------------------------------

We discussed two alternatives:
a )use midnight UTC as assumed time of date
b) say date add duration is date (normalize to whole days and then ignore time portion)

We noted that, if we did a), cast date to datetimeoffset should follow same semantics

> The cited sections allow these operations but fail to provide guidance on how to implement them.
> DateTimeOffset must have a time zone, date cannot have a time zone.
> It would be better to
> - disallow these operations altogether
> - define the result type as Date and specify how to round or ignore sub-day duration portions
