Gary Edwards,           ODF Foundation

Minutes
=======

Minutes of the meeting on 5th September were approved.

ODF Focus Area on XML.org
=========================

Focus area launched but not much press coverage yet, however there has been
a big increase in traffic to the website and a number of blogs had covered
it. Agreed to ask the ODF Alliance to publicise it in their next
newsletter. Rob agreed to ask the Chairs of the ODF TC and the various
sub-committees to provide *content* on a regular basis. All committee
members should ensure they update their bios on the Editorial Board page.
Erwin agreed to ensure that all the appropriate links are in place on the
site. Erwin would continue to chase with Sun for a testimonial.

OpenOffice.org Conference recap
===============================

About 300 people attended although nearly 700 had registered. The ODF panel
was a great success and probably the highlight of the event. The question
was raised regarding the profile of those who had attended and those who
hadn't but this was not available. It was suggested that asking for
confirmation about 2 weeks before the event might help with estimating
attendance.

Update on other deliverables
============================

Erwin has uploaded his white paper to the web site and is looking for
feedback.

ODF Presentation - Erwin hasn't had a chance to review it in-depth yet.

ODF News / Round Table
======================

Rob mentioned the OpenDocument day at the KDE Developer Conference
(aKademy), scheduled for Tuesday Sep 26 in Dublin, he would be speaking on
*an* ODF Developers Toolkit.

There had been no updates from California but a presentation to the State
of Minnesota was being planned. The situation in France was difficult at
the moment except for the previously agreed roll-outs.

Gary reported on discussions round an ODF User Group and also the lack of
ODF plug-ins. Gary noted that his recommendation to Governments was to
commit to a file format not a specific application, and to test against
agreed benchmarks and milestones. The current political situation was noted
and it was felt a User Group could help with this.

The meeting was adjourned at this stage.
