Subject: ODF Adoption TC Call - 4 December 2007 - Minutes
Dear TC members, Here are my notes from last week's ODF Adoption TC call. All the best, Erwin Attendees ========= * Marino Marcich * Don Harbison * Erwin Tenhumberg * J. David Eisenberg * Peter Vandenabeele * Alan Clark * Charles Schulz We achieved a quorum. ODF 1.2 Collateral Plan ======================= Erwin still has to update his slides and move the content to the OASIS template, i.e. update the existing slides. ODF Logo ======== Erwin and OASIS exchanged a few emails. OASIS is willing to take ownership of the issue. OASIS seems to prefer some kind of combination of the OASIS bug and Red Hat's dove logo. ISV Outreach ============ Erwin sent out a rough outline of an ISV white paper. For the ODF business case it would be nice to have: - IBM Lotus Symphony distribution numbers - SuSE Linux distribution numbers Alan Clark will try to collect data within Novell. Marino will contact other Linux distros. J. David is interested in helping with code samples, but would like to know what the preferred languages are. Probably PHP and Java should be among them. A team in France is working on an ODF library for different scripting languages including Perl and Python. So far all information is in French only. Charles will J. David with some info about the French effort. ODF Interop Plan ================ Rob hasn't found the time for writing up a draft plan, yet. XML 2007, Boston, December ========================== The event is right now. Miguel will talk about the translator. Other Events ============ The call for location for the OpenOffice.org Conference 2008 has just started. The Adoption TC does not really have an opinion about the location, but it would be nice to have another ODF interop event at OOoCon 2008. Thus, it should be feasible for the key ODF interop event participants to get to the event location. It might make sense to have an additional ODF ISV event at OOoCon 2008 as well. ODF News / Round Table ====================== Accessibility Event by the European Commission in Brussels ---------------------------------------------------------- Erwin will be demoing open source accessibility tools at a two-day conference for people with disabilities by the European Commission in Brussels. Roadmap info on opendocument.xml.org ------------------------------------ Don suggested to post things like "What to expect from OpenOffice.org in 2008?" on opendocument.xml.org. IBM could do the same for Lotus Symphony. Google can do the same for Google Docs, as well. LotusSphere 2008 ---------------- LotusSphere will be in Orlando in January. Several presentations will be on Symphony. One of the presentations will be targeting ISV's and developers.
