2.) ODF Toolkit Union  - next steps

The TC discussed the current status of the new ODF Toolkit Union open source software development community. The web site ( http://odftoolkit.org ) is up and running. There are currently 207 registered members, however project work has not begun in earnest.  The TC discussed its potential role in terms of supporting the mission of the ODF Toolkit Union through complementary educational outreach and other activities.

3.) OIC TC Update and Discussion for Action Plan

Rob Weir updated TC members regarding the latest progress and focus on deliverables within the OASIS OIC TC. Project planning to produce an initial 'State of ODF Interoperability' document is set for May 2009 delivery. Other work items include: defining test cases for discrete test assertions; developing a full test suite comprised of documents that support conformance testing, and interoperability testing that goes beyond conformance testing; i.e. how well do specific ODF implementations actually interoperate with one another.

Rajiv Shah, University of Illinois, has formally contributed the test documents to the OASIS OIC TC used in his report entitled, "An Empirical Study of Open Standards" posted here: http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=1031749

There is good attendance and participation within the new OIC TC

4.) ODF V1.2 Update and Discussion for Action Plan
-- suggestions from Bart Hanssens:
        -- an easy-to-grasp brochure on what's new in ODF 1.2 ?
-- a list of platforms NOT supporting ODF yet (mainframe ? iPhone ?)
-- a map (like Bob Sutor's map) showing where ODF is accepted as a
            national/regional standard

Rob updated the TC members regarding a recent paper he has contributed to the IEEE Internet Computing magazine focused on ODF, providing an overview, its context and a short technical description. The paper is due for publication in the March/April issue. The TC agreed to seek permission to link to this article or publish it separately on http://opendocument.xml.org

The TC membership brainstormed a number of project deliverables for the 2009 workplan. Rob proposed building a Google map with pushpins showing the location of local support for ODF, linking to any article of content published on ODF from a specific country locale.

ACTION: Marino to discuss this project concept with Zaheda Bhorat, and report back on recommended next steps.

Marino proposed an ODF V1.2 brochure (as did Bart), highlighting the growing business value of ODF.

ACTION: Marino to lead the Communications Planning for the ODF Adoption TC's 2009 workplan collaborating directly with Carol Geyer, OASIS Communications Mgr. and report back with recommended next steps.

5. ODF Events Calendar for 2009

Louis provided the TC with a report on his experience attending and speaking at the Linux Conference Australia (LCA).

6.) Action Items Planning for 2009
