http://wiki.oasis-open.org/odf-adoption/OdfAdoptionTcActionItems
The TC reviewed the Action Items.
Don reported completion of the Introduction
to ODF 1.2 presentation. It is posted on the TC, but needs to be posted
to the ODF Focus Area.
Don reported completion of the ODF 1.2
Podcast interview. It is now posted to the ODF Focus Area and is the TC's
3rd podcast.
The TC decided to remove the 'ODF in
Education' and 'ODF Authors' podcasts from the table.
It was suggested that Andreas Guelzow
join David Wheeler for the OpenFormula podcast interview. As a developer
of the Gnumeric, open source spreadsheet project, Andreas is responsible
for adding ODF support.
3.) ODF 1.2 Communication Plan review
The TC reviewed the overall timeline
and rationale for the deliverables in support of 1) ODF 1.2 annoucement
in the late May or early June timeframe, and 2) the consideration by National
Body members of ODF 1.2 for uplevel of IS 26300 following OASIS PAS submission
of ODF 1.2 to ISO/IEC JTC1.
4.) 2011 events - open discussion
The TC conducted a lively discussion
on the merits of an 'ODF Conference' organized and led by OASIS ODF Adoption
TC. The concept is to develop and manage an OASIS ODF Conference that is:
a) vendor neutral, inclusive
of ODF 1.2 implementations, of value and interest to developers and users
considering ODF adoption.
b) Serves the following goals and objectives:
- Learn about the emerging ODF tools and
supporting applications
- Hear views and experiences from government
ICT leaders involved in ODF implementations
- Provide a platform for companies to
demonstrate implementations of ODF
- Allow an opportunity for industry to
share views and experiences
- Educate and discuss ODF 1.2
- Find out how to participate fully in
the work of ODF technical committee c)
c) complementary and not in conflict
with extant conferences; e.g. ODF Plug-fests, LibreOffice and/or OpenOffice.org
conferences;
Don took the action item to post the
concept document authored by Jane Harnad, OASIS Events Manager.
Don took the action item to contact
leadership of ODF advocacy groups for their input to the concept; e.g.
Open Docs Society, Open Forum Europe, The Document Foundation, and OpenOffice.org
This is a concept only at this time.
The TC agreed to develop a timeline for concluding the preliminary consideration
phase and reaching a 'go/no-go' decision point by end of May.
Don will establish a repeating agenda
topic for this project.
5.) News & Roundtable
Harald notified the TC he will propose
an agenda topic on ODF branding and make a presentation to the TC.
Andreas requested the Canadian phone
number for the conference call be corrected.
The meeting was adjourned.
