Subject: Nested lists issue. Dave Pawson
This is a repeat of my 'nested lists' issue Issue summary. 1. List styling. Use of heading styles in lists. Questionnable, but probable that we can't do much about it. 2. Use of lists to obtain legal numbering style, e.g.1.1.1. I think this is tag abuse. reminder of original post below. regards DaveP Two examples of styling. 1. Plain bad styling. A list, with one list item content being styled as heading level 3 <text:list text:style-name="L2"> <text:list-item> <text:p text:style-name="P14">Third item, list 1 continuation</text:p> </text:list-item> <text:list-item> <text:p text:style-name="P14">Fourth item, list continuation.</text:p> </text:list-item> <text:list-item> <text:h text:style-name="P15" text:outline-level="3">Special, heading inside list.</text:h> </text:list-item> </text:list> 2. Questionnable styling. Using a 3 deep nested list to obtain numbering of the form 1.1.1 for a level 3 heading. (I'm guessing about the rationale) <text:list text:style-name="L5"> <text:list-item> <text:list> <text:list-item> <text:list> <text:list-item> <text:h text:style-name="P19" text:outline-level="3">Audio</text:h> </text:list-item> </text:list> </text:list-item> </text:list> </text:list-item> </text:list> I'm being very straightforward with my transformation, generating simple headings with the source style as an attribute value. <bridgehead style="h3">Field tests.</bridgehead> Problem. I *could* included headings within lists as headings.... if the only place I found them was for numbering. With weak/bad styling that won't be true. Is it too strong to say that this abuse of nested lists is poor markup? regards DaveP -- Dave Pawson XSLT XSL-FO FAQ. http://www.dpawson.co.uk
