Subject: RE: [office-collab] Groups - Event "Advanced Document Collaboration SC - Coordination Call" added

I must admit I’m flummoxed.  The SC/TC always accommodates national holidays.  Without any exception I’m aware of.  This will be the first call since our return to work after a *major* policy change.  I think it is wrong to proceed along this path, starting a new direction and laying initial foundation for the future without significant participants.

If you’re looking for an alternate suggestion, to avoid colliding with OIC, perhaps either simply wait for the 12th or hold this first one on Tuesday or Thursday.  Waiting one week is hardly going to kill us given this topic has been running for nearly two years.  Most of the US-based TC participants do not sit on this SC so they probably didn’t care what time the call was held.

I again request a change to avoid a national holiday and suggest (1) the 12th or (2) either Tuesday the 4th or Thursday the 6th.

Only Patrick, John and myself have answered so far, but no specific event time suggestion were made.

Therefore I decided that WE WILL HAVE an (let it be informal) collab call next Monday to TC hours as planned, as we should not idle any longer on this work.
There might be no American is likely to participate, but the time was decided with Americans participating on the TC call about two weeks ago and mentioned twice in the ODF TC meeting minutes.

The new time shall be discussed on the next ODF TC call.

PS: I would suggest to do it iterating with the OIC TC call every second Wednesday, so the first one would be on the 12th ODF TC meeting time.
I am not able to postpone the call later in general as I have to fetch my child from Kindergarden and as the time has worked over the passed years, I suggest to stick with TC time as it helps to avoid confusion.

Wish you all a nice week-end!
Svante

What is the opinion of the others?

Day/time change works for me.

Given the current geographic distribution of interested parties, may I suggest:

Weds - at 10:30 East Coast. That should be 4:30 PM in Germany and 7:30 AM on the West Coast of the US.

And not that we need to meet every week, assuming we can make better use of the email list. There are downsides to not having immediate feedback but all of us have learned things from blog posts, articles and even books. Where there is no immediate feedback (other than parser errors if you key in code). ;-)

Will require more self-discipline than hanging around for the call (or getting up, depending on your location) but likely to move us more quickly to something to show others.

Hope you are having a great day!

Patrick

September 3 is a public holiday in the US (Labor Day), most businesses are closed and many people leave on a 3-day holiday.  Can we move this to another day please?

Also, if the SC is going to become active on the phone again, I’d like to raise the possibility of using a day other than Monday or Tuesday.  I have a weekly volunteer activity on Monday evenings that keeps me out until about midnight, and I typically don’t get to bed until after 1 by the time I take care of the day’s pile at home.  I’d much prefer not also being up at 6:30am on those days or the next morning.
