Uh oh.  I feel a big fight coming on now between the physicists who call 
it "Gaussian", the statisticians who call it "Normal" and the historians 
who point out that de Moivre, not Gauss,  discovered it.

I strongly suggest using within a standard document the more accurate and 
complete name:
*gaussian distribution* instead of the often misleading *normal 
distribution*
