Subject: HYPERLINK
Hi, 6.10.2 HYPERLINK has | TODO: ??? Proposed for deletion as standard function. and in the Note | This is an OpenOffice.org function Well, yes, but only because it was an Excel function before.. so for interoperability we should include it, despite its really weird semantics, see also an older mail I posted to this list I include again for reference. Eike ----- Forwarded message from Eike Rathke <erack@sun.com> ----- Date: Fri, 06 Oct 2006 21:08:03 +0200 Subject: [office-formula] HYPERLINK() function weirdness From: Eike Rathke <erack@sun.com> To: OASIS ODFF SC <office-formula@lists.oasis-open.org> Message-id: <20061006190802.GI53916@sr1-eham02-01.Germany.Sun.COM> Hi, If someone is assigned the specification of the HYPERLINK function, please note that it has some really weird "side effects", e.g. the formula =IF(FALSE();HYPERLINK("http://www.example.org/");"something") results in a hyperlink cell though the HYPERLINK function will not be evaluated. The cell contains the (not working) URL and the result “something”. Best is probably to follow the specification of http://specs.openoffice.org/calc/compatibility/HyperLinkFunction.sxw Eike ----- End forwarded message ----- -- Automatic string conversions considered dangerous. They are the GOTO statements of spreadsheets. --Robert Weir on the OpenDocument formula subcommittee's list.
