Subject: Summary 2010-03-30 of OpenFormula
Summary 2010-03-30 of OpenFormula (As always, please reply-all with corrections.) Attendees: David A. Wheeler Eric Patterson Andreas Guelzow Eike Rathke Dennis Hamilton Patrick Durusau Michael B. (Rob Weir was not on this call.) Note: For our current status, see the dashboard: http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/secure/Dashboard.jspa?selectPageId=10056 We discussed: * the April 1 deadline for CD02 * NEEDS-DISCUSSION items * New unassigned issues ==================== Topic: CD02 - complete proposals by April 1 "Please complete all CD02 items assigned to you by April 1". Topic: NEEDS-DISCUSSION item OFFICE-2335 (Complex Number Type) http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-2335 Patrick: Just say "A complex number may be represented as a Number or Text." Dennis: Don't confuse internal representation. Michael: I don't think a number is okay. Wheeler: Number is okay when the imaginary part is 0, and this is a useful optimization because implementations often handle Number more rapidly than Text; we don't want to forbid it. New replacement text for section 3.4 (Complex Number) paragraph 3 and 4; it's also added to OFFICE-2335 as a comment: "A complex number may, but need not, be represented as a Number or Text. The result of the functions ISNUMBER and ISTEXT are implementation-defined when applied to a complex number." Topic: NEEDS-DISCUSSION item OFFICE-2381 http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-2381 Eric: What's the difference between 4.10.5 and 4.10.3. In 4.10.5, second sentence, what does that mean? Wheeler: 4.10.5 applies when a label is defined; 4.10.3 when the label is NOT defined. Eric: So there's a means to know which row/column a label is associated with. Eric: In Excel, it had nothing to do with naming a row or column... it's really an area, and involves named expressions. We may want to talk about this being implementation-dependent. Dennis: If it's a defined label, I understand 4.10.2. Eric: This is why automatic lookup is deprecated. Eike: Position may change if you read the document in again. Eric: I'm concerned that it's based on table label stuff. Perhaps we can work in stating that some of this is implementation-dependent. Eric will write a proposal and send to the list. He will work with Eike. Wheeler: I don't think there's any fan of the "automatic lookup" stuff of 4.10.3. Topic: Many trivial unassigned typos. There's a long list of new unassigned issues, which are basically typos: Bug OFFICE-2601 2.3 non-scalar, 2.1.1 typo "."
