Let me try to diagram this.

xml:id
======

document
	paragraph <--- properties

meta:about
==========

document
	paragraph ---> properties

meta:property
=============

document
	paragraph ---> predicate ---> object

So first two establish a subject and allow properties to be attached to
them (though with different meanings), the last a relationship between
the subject (the paragraph or document or whatever) and an object.

As an example, there are a bunch of existing fields (author, title,
etc.) that are in fact properties of the document. Using meta:property
is a way to make this more generic, and adding meta:about to make the
subject reference generic (not only about the document or its
contents).
