Subject: Re: [office-metadata] Fields question

The fields that we have already in ODF specify what content is supplied, for instance the current date, the author of a document, the value of a variable, or the value of a "field" in a database table. The new metadata is somehow different, because here the ODF specification itself will not specify what the content will be. So I think it would be okay to say that it per se has no semantics. > > Assuming that we attach metadata to a field, then the field has content > if there is a plugin that processes the metadata and supplies the > content. Its content is always the value of the field when it has been saved, and an application that does not know the field may display that content. I would suggest that the metadata fields behaves like this, too. I hope this helps.
