Discussion of Work Package 5.3 Style Properties
-----------------------------------------------
The TC continued the discussed of text formatting properties as
described in section 3.10 of the OpenOffice.org XML specification.

The TC discussed the proposal for text decoration attributes based on
CSS3 (see
http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/office/200308/msg00026.html). It
has been proposed that the specification should also allow to specify
custom underline styles that are not covered by CSS3 so far. This could
for instance achieved by combining the underline-type and
underline-style into a single attribute that can take the combinations
of the existing attribute values, but also the name of an underline
style that is specified elsewhere in the document. This underline style
may also include the underline-width. For the underline width, it has
been discussed whether fixed length values should be specified for the
values "thin", "medium" and "thick", and that a value like "bold" is
missing that specifies a font height based underline width that is wider
than an "auto" line in CSS3. Paul Langille will clarify the usage of
styles for underlining on the TC's mailing list.

The TC unanimously agreed to replace the "fo:score-spaces" with the more
specific attributes "text-underline-mode" and "text:line-through-mode".

The TC also unanimously agreed to enhance the specification for
crossing-out with lines by crossing-out with characters as proposed in
http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/office/200308/msg00030.html.
However, the details for this have to be clarified after the
specification for crossing-out itself has been agreed. The TC
unanimously agreed to apply the extensions for crossing-out with
characters also to underlining.

The TC didn't identify a requirement to add CSS3's overlining feature.

The TC further unanimously agreed to change the specification for
<style:tab-stop> as proposed in
http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/office/200308/msg00030.html, that
is, to specify leader line styles and characters in the same way as
underlining.

The TC additionally unanimously agreed to adopt CSS2's/SVG's font-face
declaration as proposed in
http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/office/200308/msg00032.html
