Subject: Open Office XML Format TC Meeting Minutes 26-Jan-03
MINUTES OF THE OASIS OPEN OFFICE XML FORMAT TC MEETING JANUARY, THE 26TH, 2004, 3PM GMT – 3:35PM GMT Attendees --------- Doug Alberg <doug.alberg@boeing.com>, Boeing Michael Brauer <michael.brauer@sun.com>, Sun Microsystems Patrick Durusau <pdurusau@emory.edu>, Society of Biblical Literature Gary Edwards <garyedwards@yahoo.com> David Faure <faure@kde.org> Tom Magliery <Tom.Magliery@corel.com>, Corel Daniel Vogelheim <daniel.vogelheim@sun.com>, Sun Microsystems Acceptance of Minutes of the January, the 19th meeting ------------------------------------------------------ - The attending TC members unanimously accepted the minutes. Action Items ------------ Michael Brauer: Clarify MIME types to use for the Open Office format - done, see Karl Best's reply http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/office/200401/msg00013.html Michael Brauer: Check whether plain XML file format is mentioned in the specification. - in progress Daniel Vogelheim: Clarify on the Relax-NG mailing list whether an automatic conversion to DTDs exists. - in progress Michael Brauer: Clarify whether the suggested MIME types are permitted. - done, see Karl Best's reply http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/office/200401/msg00013.html Specification document ---------------------- The TC editors marked all TODOs in the specification document as either TODOs for the TC or TODOs for the editors. The TC editors also introduced "Notes to the TC" to the specification document. A "Note to the TC" is a TODO for the TC where the editors already suggest a solution, so that a discussion is only required if a TC member disagrees to the suggested solution. The suggested solutions have been integrated in the spec already. The TC unanimously agreed to the concept of "Notes to the TC". The TC discussed the proposal to join date and time text fields (see http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/office/200401/msg00014.html), that both operate on a date+time value and therefor differ only by their name in the schema. Since there is a differentiation between date and time fields in the UI of office applications, the TC agreed to keep the schema unchanged, that is to keep this differentiation in the schema. Phase 2 topics -------------- Gary Edwards suggested a file format for contact manager applications as additional phase 2 topic. Liaison with DCMI ----------------- The Open Office TC has been asked by the Dublin Core Meta Initiative whether it is interested in a liaison relationship with the DCMI. The TC in general is interested in working together with the DCMI, but needs some more details what the liaison relationship could look like to decide on a formal liaison relationship. Michael will get in contact with DCMI to get more information. New Action Items ---------------- Michael Brauer: Get in contact with DCMI regarding a liaison relationship.
