Subject: OpenDocument TC work-call minutes 2007-03-05
* rollcall Uri Resnitzky, ARX Yue Ma, IBM Robert Weir, IBM Helen Yue, IBM Patric Durusau Florian Reueter, Novell Michael Brauer, Sun Microsystems Lars Oppermann, Sun Microsystems Oliver Wittmann, Sun Microsystems Eike Radtke, Sun Microsystems Bruce D'Arcus Gary Edwards, OpenDocument Foundation David A. Wheeler, OpenDocument Foundation * last meeting's minutes The attending TC members unanimously accepted the minutes from the last work-call. * action items none * proposals ** numbered paragraphs (listid/style-override) Florian: have not yet fully understood the proposal I would like to see the schema questions regrading statement that numbered paragraphs and (numbered) lists are the same. For instance in cases of restarted numbering and nested list. If this was disallowed in the schema, that issue would go away. Thats why I would like to see the schema Oliver: I will ask David for the schema and I would like to ask Florian fore the schema to the style-override Florian: that makes sense Michael: we are discussing this for a very long time. Can you resolve these issues by next Monday? Florian: that is OK for me Oliver: I will try to contact David and work towards resolving this too. I should be able to post schemas no later than Wednesday. Michael: good, this is going on for a long time. we really need to find a compromise here Florian: I find it very important that we do not rush this in without gaining full understanding of all the issues Oliver: I think that we have gained a good understanding during the very long discussions which we already had on this. I summarized the debate in the revised proposal that I sent out Michael: we need some more specific information on the problems that Florian sees with the proposal as it stands now. ** Position and space attributes for lists Michael: there are question around whether some things we have now in the spec are useful. They are however there because they are part of an implementation. Oliver: Florian and myself discussed the proposal over the last week and I will be able to post a revised proposal by Tuesday or Wednesday so we can vote on it by Monday ** digital signatures Michael: I sent out proposal some days ago. There were two suggestions posted how this could be enhanced with additional features. It is my understanding that these would not actually impact the original proposal. One was for .... other for visual signatures Uri: while I worked on the visual signature proposal I saw that I didn't need to change the original proposal. I however needed to add a paragraph to the current proposal But there is no conflict between the current proposal and what I am working on. I hope to finish this by tomorrow. Michael: I am also ok with dropping the part of the spec that prescribes special names for the signature streams Florian: have you considered using W3C signatures Michael: it uses W3C signatures. It just describes how the signatures are integrated into the package Uri: it is essentially a detached signature which is part of W3C signatures. W3C also has inline signatures but those are not included in the proposal Florian: so it is not possible to sign flatXML files. Is that by intention Michael: yes Florian: regarding normalization, is that restricted or do we allow all W3C Sig normalizations. Michael: allows all Florian: is there the possibility to only sign the content without signing the style information? Michael: currently not..., there are macro-signatures that only sign scripts. ** Language tags Michael: there was a minor update to the wording ** Citation fields... ... will be addressed together with metadata SC spec ** Database front-end Michael: OOo authors awaiting feedback from koffice developers ** Alignment of Frames Michael: Florian remarked that this does not work in implementations that cannot render formulas, withdraw proposal for now.. ** chart: right-angled axes Lars: will get more information to Patrick ** style name attribute for text-outline Florian: why you want to do this? Oliver: It's about name clashes. In OOo we use an internal name to style the outline, which may clash with a user defined list styles. It also adds the ability to reference the outline style. ** Empty default outline level ... ** Animation for shapes on master pages Michael: that animation in master pages are missing seems to be mostly an oversight.... ** Proposal (Comment) Chapter information in indexes Michael: a general remark: for any proposals from non-TC members, we must always make sure that they are submitted through the comments facility. This is to ensure conformance with the IP policies. ** 6 chart proposals ... no further questions Michael: we should be able to shorten the list of proposals significantly next Monday. Rob: I would like to confirm the meeting time for next monday, as the US is switching to daylight savings time. Patrick: we are going forward an hour. If we stay with CET like this, it is an hour later in the US. Michael: so we stay with the same UTC time until all daylight saving changes are through -- Lars Oppermann <lars.oppermann@sun.com> Sun Microsystems Software Engineer Nagelsweg 55 Phone: +49 40 23646 959 20097 Hamburg, Germany Fax: +49 40 23646 550 http://www.sun.com/staroffice
