Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-1641) Editor Note: Section17.278 form:focus-on-click

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-1641?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=11566#action_11566 ]

Robert Weir commented on OFFICE-1641:
--------------------------------------

I use "selected" rather than "chosen" as being the more common term in this domain. The general idea is that there can be multiple controls available to the user at one time, though only a single one at a time is receptive to user input. The one control that is receptive to user input is said to "have the focus". A control is given the focus by selecting it, which is a implementation-specific technique, typically involving clicking on it with the mouse pointer, tabbing to it with the keyboard, speaking the label associated with the control in a voice activated user interface, etc.

> Ed. Note I missed this under the camera attributes but we use "focus" to mean different things and never define the term in either case. I am not a fan of the definition section practice, which is in fact not required but do think we need to define these terms in context when they are to be used.
