Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-1698) Editor Note: Section18.187 fo:hyphenate

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-1698?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=11579#action_11579 ]

David Faure commented on OFFICE-1698:

I agree that this sentence doesn't make sense:

"If an application does not support setting the fo:hyphenate, fo:hyphenation-keep, fo:hyphenation-remain-char-count, fo:hyphenation-push-char-count and fo:hyphenation-ladder-count attributes independent of each other within a style, the default for fo:hyphenate is false."

E.g. KOffice-1.x supports fo:hyphenate and none of the other more specific attributes. Yet the default is true (which is a sensible default, otherwise globally-enabled hyphenation doesn't work until the user enables it on runs of text explicitely). I would remove this paragraph altogether, unless the person who wrote it has more information about this phrasing.

> Ed. Note BTW, the default is false but what happens if deliberately set to true? Or do we mean fixed at false? No other value possible? And, why the interdependency of these attributes? I don't recall seeing that in XSL. Same question through 18.410
