Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-270) Public Comment:Meaning of 'should'

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-270?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=11838#action_11838 ]

Dennis Hamilton commented on OFFICE-270:

This is Public Comment Registry #17

The discussion of "SHOULD" and "should" and [RFC2119] in this comment applies only to ODF 1.0.

ODF 1.1 and ODF 1.2 use "*should*" (bold-face) and [ISO/IEC DIrectives]. There do continue to be "should" (not bold-face) appearances as well, and it is not clear what their standing is with regard to normative language.
