Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-1600) Editor Note: Section17.226 draw:text-path-allowed

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-1600?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12031#action_12031 ]

Patrick Durusau commented on OFFICE-1600:
-----------------------------------------

Well, after thinking about it, what is wrong with this picture?:

draw:text-path-allowed="true" : how is any "text" string associated with a draw:enhanced-path attribute, such that:

draw:text-path-allowed="false" : that there is any text to be rendered by a normal text engine?

That seems to imply that there are two valid rendering possibilities but I don't see how the second one comes about.

If a set of characters has been entirely drawn by the value of a draw:enhanced-path attribute, how is that ever going to be passed to an ordinary text engine?

Or is it that the text for the shape is specified separately and then fed either to the draw:enhanced-path attribute or rendered by the normal text engine?

Seems underspecified how text is rendered the value of draw:text-path is true.

> Section 17.226 draw:text-path-allowed
> Ed. Note We don't define Fontwork object.
> Sven Jacobi suggests that Fontwork object (which is co-extensive with draw:enhanced-path) is the counterpart of Microsoft "WordArt."
> Sven Jacobi also suggests: "The draw:text-path-allowed attribute specifies if it is allowed to
> render text of the shape using the draw:enhanced-path attribute, or if only
> the normal text engine should be used."
> Patrick: Fine by me but I am still troubled that we don't define "Fontwork."
