Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Created: (OFFICE-2253) Salvage definitionvaries

Salvage definition varies
-------------------------

                 Key: OFFICE-2253
                 URL: http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-2253
Project: OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) TC
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: OpenFormula
    Affects Versions: ODF 1.2
            Reporter: Patrick Durusau

AMORDEGRC - salvage	The value of the asset at the end of the depreciation life time.

AMORLINC - salvage The value of the asset at the end of the depreciation life time.

DB - salvage: the salvage value at the end of the lifeTime.

DDB - salvage: the salvage value at the end of the LifeTime (often 0)

SLN - Salvage: the salvage value at the end of the LifeTime (often 0)

SYD - Salvage: the salvage value at the end of the LifeTime (often 0)

TWO Questions:

1) Should the uniform definition of salvage read:

the value of an asset at the end of a depreciation period.

?

(Leaving it open as to whether the value is being calculated at the end of some interim period or at the end of all depreciation on an asset.)

2) Should the value of an asset at the end of any depreciation period be allowed to be a negative value? That is < 0? I have a very dim memory of some tax transactions that could result in negative salvage values but we would need to ask someone with current expertise.
